Who We Are:
|
Sheelagh began crewing at the Danville Balloon Festival in 1989, got her first ride in 1990 and that was it -- she was hooked. Sheelagh and Larry worked together, so she got him and his son involved in ballooning. Larry became as excited about balloons and ballooning as she and the rest is history.
They married and bought their first balloon, the S.S. Rollo Fitzpug. In 2007 Sheelagh received her private lighter-than-air license. Over the years, Larry has become quite a competitive pilot placing 1st or (at least) in the top10 in every local balloon event they have flown. In Louisville he came in 2nd one year, and placed 1st in several of the individual races. At the Forest Park race in St. Louis, (70+ balloons) he has placed 1st and 3rd, and has his name engraved on the championship cup that is kept in the Art Museum during the year. In Albuquerque he has won several 1st place medals for his group, and came in 17th place overall one year. Larry and Sheelagh have flown events in Peoria, Macomb, Lincoln, and Centralia, Illinois; Muncie, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; St. Louis, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Montreal, Canada and Leon, Mexico. They are looking forward to attending many events with Jolly Rollo. |
